So, today I had an interesting case. I had a 46" Plasma TV with an old Gateway tower with a Nvidia Graphics card...The problem was that it wouldnt fit on the screen. I tried all the settings provided by Nvidia's control panel and nothing would work. Frustrating, yes, impossible, no!! I turned to Google to find my answer. If you have never heard of PowerStrip before, than you are missing out! It has a ton of settings to get that display to fit just right on your big screen TV, or any external monitor for that matter. It supports almost every video card and its features are amazing. Best of all, its free at download.com. Click on this link to get it now!!

So, I havent posted for awhile. I thought I would pass a little knowledge onto some of you folks about DEP (Data Execution Prevention) errors when opening IE7 and IE8. If you are getting this warning, guess what? Think a bit......Yep its a virus! Gotta love 'em. Good for my business, but bad for you guys.
After some tinkering with IE's settings with no avail, I turned to my last resort. Something that should be in every geeks tool kit is COMBOFIX. While its not a safeguard against malware coming in, it is excellent at removing them when they have already been installed. Make sure you know what you are doing first!! Read the disclaimer and if you feel comfortable with the install, then go ahead and do it. This will allow IE to work again after about a short 10 min scan.
When all else fails, COMBOFIX is the way to go against malware and spyware that is hard to remove. Please install some programs that will prevent the installation of malware in the first place such as; Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, A good Antivirus, Spyware Blaster, and/or Spybot Search and Destroy!!!!
Learn how to protect yourselves!! I have an article on here on products that I recommend (not endorse) so check them out!

It seems that there is another version of Antivirus 2009, that is called Antivirus 360. This one is a little harder to remove since they are getting smarter about Malwarebytes. Who comes up with this stuff? lol. Anyway, to cut to the chase, here is how to get rid of it.1. Install Malwarebytes onto a flash drive.
2. rename mbam-setup.exe in the C:ProgramFiles/Malwarebytes (its the first icon with the red box and an M)
3. Rename it to something like yourname.exe
4. Run, install, and update Malwarebytes.
5. Run the program and delete all the entries that it detects.

So, your reading your Facebook messages and you get one from your friend saying something like "check out this video" or "you have been caught on camera". There will obviously be a link to a "video". Oh, its not a video, its the Koobface virus that has been spreading around Facebook for a little while. If you have searched everywhere on how to remove it, then you just came to the right place. I will get right to it. Download Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, and run them. Dont forget to run your antivirus as well. This will get rid of it....But wait, now your internet does'nt work right? Thats because this virus decideds to change how Internet Explorer and Firefox connect to the Internet. It's an easy fix :) Just go to tools--->Options--->Connections and change them back to their original state. It will probably say that you are trying to connect with a proxy, which that is not usually how you connect.

Ok, so one morning you turn your computer on and see a blue screen with some writing on it. Immediatly your computer shuts off before you can even take a look at it. Does this sound familiar? This is what we call the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD for short). It's not too alarming and kinda a quick fix if you know what you are doing. So here is what you gotta do, hold tight.Restart your PC and immediatly start pressing F8. Choose the setting that says "Dont restart on system failure". Restart your PC and and copy down what it says on your blue screen. It should be something like 0x000000ED or something of that nature. You could go ahead and research what this Stop Error code is, but why waste the time?
If you have your factory installation disk, just pop that sucker in and wait for everything to load. After thats all done you will have an option to enter the Recovery Console (press R) You will enter a screen that is black and white. Type this little line that will more than likely fix your problem.
chkdsk /r
remember the space after the chkdsk. So it looks like this chkdsk /r not chkdsk/r. It will take about an hour or so to finish. Once it is done you should be good to go and back to your work!
